Infusion Personas

In the documentation, new terminology describing users is introduced. As you understand the different access, use, and needs, it is important to understand these new terms. There are three distinct personas of Infusion users:

Note:

These personas describe user personas, not Sisense user roles.

Infusion App User

An Infusion App User is a person with Sisense credentials who has been given access to one or more Infusion Apps (Slack, Teams, Google Workspace, and/or Office 365).

They may use one or more apps for a variety of use cases and purposes. These users are strictly consumers of data.

Infusion App Users are analogous to Dashboard Viewers - meaning that it is a self-service function, where the data provided is curated (to a point) and the user can work within the bounds of that data.

Infusion App Users may have access to the Sisense platform directly, or only given credentials with the purpose of logging into Infusion Apps. Infusion App Users may have the role of Infusion App Basic User, Viewer, Dashboard Designer, Data Designer, Data Admin, Admin, or SysAdmin.

Chatbot User

A Chatbot User is a subset of Infusion App Users who are specifically using Slack or Microsoft Teams to access, view, and query data through a chatbot experience.

Chatbot Users are considered a subset because they have distinct needs that differ from users of Google Workspace or Office 365. Chatbot Users rely on (and are limited to) the natural language querying capability offered in the chatbot. See Using Ask Me for more information.

Chatbot Users do not have the same context as users of natural language querying on a dashboard where they are presented with visualizations and an NLQ UI. All of the context required by the user must be provided natively within the chatbot/applications.

Chatbot Users should have some familiarity with the data that they are querying, as data may be coming from systems, business units, or domain areas that they work with directly or tangentially.

Viewpoint Creator

A Viewpoint Creator is a person who is responsible for one or more functions related to Viewpoint creation, updates, deletions and overall administrative management.

Viewpoint Creators use Sisense to build and publish Viewpoints to users, user groups, and Infusion Apps. During creation, Viewpoint Creators have the ability to choose what data will be accessible to the Infusion App user, and how that data is displayed. They are able to restrict data through the use of filters and data security rules.

Viewpoint Creators play a critical role when building Viewpoints for a Chatbot User. The Viewpoint Creator must not only deliver a Viewpoint which encompasses the data within the business request, but must also anticipate broader questions for Chatbot Users, asked in a variety of ways.

The Viewpoint Creator controls how a Chatbot User interacts with data through NLQ. This is done by configuring NLQ settings during the Viewpoint creation process, setting properties, broadening matching with aliases, etc., all with the intention to improve the usability, performance, and accuracy of the NLQ results for their users.

A Viewpoint Creator has access to the Sisense platform, and may have the role of Dashboard Designer, Data Designer, Data Admin, Admin, or SysAdmin. A Viewpoint Creator can also be an Infusion App User and/or Chatbot User.
